Operator Brief: Build an Evidence Exit Route

SUMMARY: An evidence exit route is a tested method for moving essential records out of a platform while preserving enough structure to understand and verify them.

An export button is not an exit route. A download can contain files without relationships, timestamps without timezone context, or identifiers that only make sense inside the original service. The archive technically exists, yet the evidence becomes unusable as soon as the platform is unavailable.

A real exit route begins with a question: what would a new operator need in order to reconstruct the decision without access to the original interface?

The Portable Evidence Set

Objects: preserve the messages, documents, images, configuration records, or moderation events themselves.

Relationships: retain reply chains, authorship, version order, source links, and the connection between an action and its reason.

Context: document timezones, role definitions, naming conventions, and any platform behavior needed to interpret the export.

Integrity: record checksums or signed manifests for evidence that may later be disputed.

Test the Route

Choose one recent decision and reconstruct it using only the exported material. If the reviewer must reopen the platform to identify a participant, follow a source, or understand why an action occurred, the route is incomplete.

Connect the result to the context handoff. The handoff moves a signal between working spaces; the exit route ensures that signal remains intelligible after the working space itself is gone.

Operator rule: evidence is portable only when a stranger can recover its meaning.
