FIELD RECORD: The station could finally open the attachment. On the review screen, three destinations appeared beneath the heading Travel History. On the original document, two had never been visited.
This is original systems fiction set in Clandestinia, not a report about a real organization.
The Readable Copy
After the intake failure in The Unopened Attachment, the traveler returned through the approved submission route. His new receipt listed the document by name. Mara watched the clerk open it successfully. This time, nothing was missing from the envelope.
The reviewer worked from a condensed view. It showed dates, destinations and reference numbers, arranged into a clean timeline. The second entry placed the traveler in the district whose missed appointment had been attached to his record.
He asked to see the page beneath the timeline.
The Narrow Screen
The source was a reservation table. Its final column distinguished completed travel from cancelled bookings. During extraction, the column had been dropped. The remaining cells were accurate, but their relationship had changed: a list of possible journeys had become an account of movement.
The reviewer had not invented a destination. The traveler had not supplied a contradictory document. The summary had removed the qualification that made the destination meaningful.
On the wall, a blue indicator still read DOCUMENT PROCESSED. Mara asked whether that meant the file could be searched, or that its contents had been checked. The clerk found no separate field for the second question.
Back to the Table
The reviewer set the condensed timeline aside and compared the relevant row with its headings and status. She recorded that the reservation did not establish completed travel. That narrower statement did not prove where the traveler had been; it removed one unsupported inference.
The correction was attached to the case summary and the decision that had relied on it. The station kept the source, the earlier summary and the reason for the correction distinguishable, under the case’s existing access controls.
Mara watched the blue indicator change to REVIEW REQUIRED. For once, the less reassuring label told the more useful truth.
